Quora Partner Program – How Much Can You Really Earn?

Quora Partner Program

Close to a year ago, I received an email inviting me to join the Quora Partner Program. The brief message didn’t offer much detail but it did mention that I could now earn money by asking questions on Quora. A seemingly easy task to earn some extra money, but is it really worth it?

In this article I will be giving you an in-depth look at what it’s like to be a Quora Partner and whether or not it’s worth the effort.

What Is The Quora Partner Program?

For those of you who don’t know what Quora is, it’s a question and answer site where users can ask and/or answer other users questions. The platform receives over 200 million unique visitors each month from all over the world. Some use Quora just to read funny answers, others use it to ask serious questions about life.

The partner program allows those invited to ask questions and receive a portion of the ad revenue generated by all the questions they ask. Partners don’t receive money for answering questions, regardless of how entertaining or useful they might be, so don’t waste your time like I did.

How Do You Get Invited?

Unfortunately, right now the Quora partner program is strictly invite only. The odd thing is that Quora doesn’t really have any rhyme or reason for why they invite certain people and not others.

Personally, I was invited after being on the platform for maybe a month and asking 5-10 questions total. None of my questions or answers had a remarkable number of views or up votes so if you want to get invited, my best advice would just be to hop on and start engaging, but there is no guarantee that you’ll get the lucky email.

How Much Can You Earn?

Is this a viable side hustle? Can I make enough money to cover some of my monthly expenses? These are the types of questions most people wonder about when it comes to the Quora Partner Program.

Before you quit your day job, let me just tell you that Quora is not going to replace your paycheck. If anything it might pay for your morning coffee for the month.

To give you guys a little bit of perspective, I’ll let you know some of my own earning stats. When I first got invited to the program I was hooked, I tried hard to reach the recommended goal of 10 questions per day. Some days I’d ask more, some days less, but on average I asked about 10 questions. The first few days I wouldn’t earn much, maybe 25-50 cents but after about 2 weeks of asking 10 questions a day, I would consistently make $1.00 a day.

Occasionally you might get lucky and ask a question that gets promoted by Quora or gets a lot of ad engagement. In this case you may have a random spike in your earnings. I’ve only had 1 of these “high” earning question which earned me about $35. There’s been multiple others which have made me $3, $4, and $5, but most will only end up with a couple cents.

I don’t want you to have unrealistic expectations, but I also don’t want to completely kill your dreams. That being said, there are….unicorns on Quora. I’ve seen many questions that have earned hundreds, even thousands of dollars. Think about that, someone typed, “Who is the soprano vocalizing on the Volvo commercials and what piece is she singing?” into Quora and subsequently made $3,400. If that doesn’t make you want to start asking questions I don’t know what will.

Is It Worth It?

Ultimately, whether or not it’s worth your time is up to you. Personally, I believe for the amount of time it takes to ask 10 questions, it’s 100% worth it. It probably takes me less than 5 minutes to think of and ask 10 questions.

You could fit this in at any point during your day, while drink your morning coffee, use the bathroom, or (as long as you do so safely) even while you sit in traffic. You may only make an extra $30 per month, not bad for maybe an hour total worth of work. But who knows maybe you’ll get lucky and find a unicorn and get to take that vacation you’ve been thinking about. Either way, no harm can really come from just trying it out.
