Cheap Date Ideas for the Budgeting Couple

Outdoor Activities

Go Hiking

Hiking is an activity that doesn’t require you to be a master of the outdoors or a world-class athlete. It’s a cheap way to get outdoors and possibly discover some parts of your town or city you may have never known existed.

Picnic

Spending an afternoon together lounging out in the sun can be a great way to spend some time together. If you don’t feel like hitting the grocery store for some sandwich supplies, you could always just pick up a pizza or some takeout for a lazier feel.

Stargazing

You don’t need to live in the middle of no where to go stargazing. 15 minutes outside of most towns you can find low light pollution and a dirt road to park on. (Just be careful not to trespass)

House Shopping

For this one you don’t have to ACTUALLY be looking to buy a house. Me and my girlfriend drive around all the time and look at houses. Especially on nice days when you can roll the windows down and enjoy the weather. Just grab some smoothies or drinks and drive around looking for open houses.

Workout Together

You don’t need a gym membership to workout together, you could go for a run, use workout equipment in a park, or even just do some yoga in the living room. It can keep you both in good shape as well as allow you to bond through your shared suffering.

A Day By The Water

No matter where you live there’s bound to be some water that you can enjoy. Whether it’s the ocean, lake, pool, or hot tub doesn’t matter, spending some time outside in the sun can improve your mood and just make for some good fun.

Indoors

Cooking/Baking

You don’t have to drop fat stacks going out to dinner when you can make it at home. Baking or Cooking a meal can be a great way to spend some time together as well as save some money.

Board Games/Puzzles

Most people have some board games and puzzles just laying around their house, if not you can typically borrow them from pretty much everyone. This isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but is a great, free way to spend some time together.

Video Games

If you’re a gamer and your S/O is not, getting them involved and teaching them the ropes can be a fun activity. From my experience girls are gonna prefer playing mario kart, super smash bros, and other games that don’t require a lot of practice to get good at.

Movie Night

At this point, I think it’s safe to say that everyone has access to a Netflix account, or at least could if they asked somebody. So instead of dropping $40 at the movies for a coke and a popcorn, fire up Netflix and that microwavable popcorn instead. It’s a lot cheaper and as an added bonus you don’t even need pants.

Window Shopping

You don’t have to spend money to enjoy the mall or your favorite stores. Whether you just go to get out of the house or maybe to look for some stuff to buy in the future, window shopping can make for a great way to spend some time together or just kill some time.

Get A Little Handy

Now first things first…..get your mind out of the gutter. This probably isn’t what you’re thinking. Head on town to hobby lobby or maybe a home improvement store and get the materials needed to build or paint something. Bird houses, wall art, candles, book shelves, the possibilities are pretty much endless. And if you want to get handy the other way šŸ˜‰ you just gotta pick up some clay and get your Patrick Swayze on.
